Hello, and welcome

My name is Catherine Haworth. I am a multi-award winning domestic abuse solicitor and Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA).

During my journey in the legal world, I saw there was a huge issue in family court and the understanding of domestic abuse. Victims were coming out of the family court process feeling even more traumatised. Many did not have access to legal aid or the funds to support legal representation, so were forced to represent themselves.

I have also noted the strong correlation between abuse of animals and abuse of people, as well as pets being used as a tool for coercive control in the home. I now advocate for better recognition and change in the family court on this issue under Holly’s Law, as well as associated statutory guidance.
