Helping to protect animals and people from abuse and neglect
A campaign to introduce police disclosure of animal abuse and/or neglect from in order to safeguard animals
The Animal Protection Disclosure Scheme - also known as “Holly’s Law” - is a Parliamentary Campaign founded by Annette Bramley and Catherine Haworth at Haworth Family Law.
Holly’s Law relies on the Common Law Duty of Police Disclosure (CLPD) to allow police to disclose specific information on animal abuse and neglect to prevent the rehoming of animals to those with a history of animal abuse, and also prevent sales of animals from those with a history of animal abuse.
Holly’s Law aims to:
Introduce a statutory framework to allow police to confidently disclose crucial information about animal abuse and neglect to those who need this information.
Reduce the number of animals being given to people with a history of animal abuse/neglect.
Reduce the number of people buying animals from breeders or sellers who have a history of animal abuse/neglect.
Allow those in domestic abuse relationships to understand if their pet or themselves are at risk of abuse and/or neglect.
